Break Bread Sunday

BBS is something we started as a body of believers to share a spiritual and physical meal.

It's not anything new, it's been going on since the start of the church. Acts 2:46

We do this on the first Sunday of the month as long as everyone can attend. When you have family that has to work on some Sundays we adjust, because each person is vital to the fellowship. This is very important, you must stay flexible.  

Our old nature can get so bent on doing things the same way every week. I like to call that RELIGION!

When we realize that WE are the CHURCH and not the building there is more importance placed on the care of the people then maintaining a building.

Having the church meet here at our house has brought spiritual growth like nothing we have ever experienced in our christian life. I believe that if you would ask those that attend here twice a week would say; they also have grown more too. Intimacy has been lost in so many ways in a traditional church that it is impossible to watch over one another. Am I my brothers keeper? YES!

I Peter 4:10

Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms. (NIV)

I Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing. (NIV)

James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.(NIV)

The Church that meets here has a made-up-mind to get free from all the religious stuff that has been crammed down our spiritual throats! It is so wonderful to open up the word of God and see truth!

I have to say, I have been guilty of putting ungodly pressure on my family," we have to pay this, give this, go here, go there". God has showed us MUCH mercy.

Romans 5:1 In [this] freedom Christ has made us free [and completely liberated us]; stand fast then, and be not hampered and held ensnared and submit again to a yoke of slavery [which you have put off]. Amp

I believe the traditional church has used the word submit a little to loosely. Even I have been guilty to put pressure and guilt on my family because of my own fears. Why is it we feel called to tell people what they can and cannot do? How wrong I have been.

Fear and pride are teammates  or we could say, 'bedfellows'. Pride says, " I better get (take) control and fear says, " I don't want to look weak". Oh the mind games.

What has been the message? Come join our church and really get screwed up. Of course we wouldn't say that really.

Yes we are to teach and set an example.  You can ask that famous question, what would Jesus do, but, for crying out LOUD, don't guess. Get in His word and find out! To much winging it in the body of Christ.

We have a brother in Christ that comes to our home who had not been saved for very long. He explained to us the pastor from the church he was attending told him, he better pay his tithe or he would be robbing from God! How shallow.

I was thinking about what Jesus said to the rich young ruler, to sell all he had and give it to the poor. 

Why didn't he say give to this ministry because right now the anointing is so strong you don't want to miss out on what God is doing?

I know I have been a little preachy, but it is time to tear down alters that all these guilt sacrifices have been laid on.

Galatians 5:6 For if we are in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love.

Faith activated and working through love, thats what we want.

Enemies of Prayer: Enemy Number 3

Enemy number 3: Hope

Let me start by saying, hope is a wonderful word. Gods word is filled with hope.

Romans 15:13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

This word in Greek is: elpis- expectation, confidence

There are many, many more scriptures with this hope.

There is another hope however that, I believe we are more familiar with and use that is contrary to the hope that is expressed in Gods word.

This hope is more wishful.

Hope- the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

Example: Someone ask for prayer for healing, we search the scripture to see what Gods will is for healing. Let me say right here, we are not trying to get God to agree with us, we are to get in agreement with Him! So many times we want God to come down to our level and reasoning, and let me say HE WILL NOT DO IT! His thought and ways are HIGHER.

Okay, back to the example. We found in Gods word that say's," Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes we are healed. 1Peter 2:24

Our sin and sickness He bore on the cross! Praise His name forever more!

We now have the scripture to base our prayer on and now we pray in the name of Jesus, you ask the person, are you healed? I sure HOPE so. Wrong! Your hoping for it to be so and not believing Gods word that says, you are healed! 

This is hope that keeps you sick.

Gods word is filled with expectation, we can have full confidence that what we ask according to His word, is a done deal, only thing left to say is AMEN!

I can say; this word HOPE will take an eternity to even scratch the surface of it's depth. If Jesus is Lord of your life you will get the opportunity.

Encouraged the pastor

This Sunday was very precious to me, I have been asking the Lord about His will for our life in ministry, and He made aware to me I have not completely surrendered my whole heart to Him.

Weeks before this I have been listening to teachings and reading on obedience and came under strong conviction that my heart was not right but, didn't know where I was missing it.

Friday as I was cleaning the shower I was asking the Lords will to be done in my heart and life and that's when He shared with me, I have been doubting the call that He has placed on my life.

I know everyone at sometime or another has experienced this, whether your called to a five fold ministry or a certain job, we all are called, if you have made Jesus the Lord of your life you are CALLED!

You know the scripture," many are called few are chosen," I know more about that word then I did before.

To be chosen is to live your life in TOTAL obedience to His Lordship, something that is not attainable without His GRACE. 

The people God has sent to Todd and I are so precious and loving and very supportive. Each one has brought blessing's to our lives.

God has truly answered our prayers to grow His church His way!

Enemies of Prayer: Enemy Number 2

Enemy number two: Wrong confession

Lets start with one of the most important scriptures on confession.

   Romans 10:9-10 Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe (adhere to, trust in, and rely on the truth) that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 

 10For with the heart a person believes (adheres to, trusts in, and relies on Christ) and so is justified (declared righteous, acceptable to God), and with the mouth he confesses (declares openly and speaks out freely his faith) and confirms [his] salvation. Amplified

The word didn't say, with your brain or with you heart confirms salvation. It is with the MOUTH he confesses Jesus as Lord. Confession (speaking words) are an important part in the believers life. We start our relationship with the Lord by confessing Him as Lord.

    Hebrews 4:14 says, Let us hold fast our confession. Confession of what? (Our faith in Him) When you have faith in Him your words should line up with His words.

     Luke 6:46 AMP  The upright (honorable, intrinsically good) man out of the good treasure [stored] in his heart produces what is upright (honorable and intrinsically good), and the evil man out of the evil storehouse brings forth that which is depraved (wicked and intrinsically evil); for out of the abundance (overflow) of the heart his mouth speaks. 

There are scriptures after scriptures about speaking, saying, confessing. I would advise every believer to study every one of them. Words are very powerful, they can produce life or death.

The above scripture says, what's in your heart in abundance will come out of your mouth. What are you listening to? Who are you listening to? If you are putting something else other then Gods words before you that is were you will place your faith.

Gods word is settled. He will never reach down with a big eraser and remove parts of it, so it will agree with us. We are to agree with Him. Heaven and earth will pass away but His word will remain forever. 

 Last week we discussed questioning Gods integrity, not trusting His word. Here's another scripture that might shed some light.

    Romans 8:6 To be carnally minded is death; to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

The carnal mind searches earthly wisdom for answers, but a spiritual mind seeks wisdom in Gods word.

    James 1:5 If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and without reproach.

We must know Gods will on the matter before we make our confession. I need healing, I maintain my confession; By His stripes I am healed. I have a need, My confession is, God supplies all my needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. I need wisdom, My confession is, Jesus has been made unto me wisdom.

Enemies of Prayer

We have started a new series on prayer. This subject, I can tell you has not been exhausted. The disciples asked Jesus, teach us how to pray.

With all the needs in the world it can be overwhelming. The bible says, in the last days men's hearts would fail them for what is coming upon the earth. It does not take a spiritual giant to see the suffering in peoples lives, while they're losing jobs, homes, and now possibly what little health care they have. What is equally disheartening is the church is among those who are suffering. We should be the most free, well, and at peace people than any other group on this planet! Why? because, we know whom we serve! Jesus did not leave His church in the dark about what was coming upon the earth, He gave us His word that He would never leave us or forsake us. He told us how to respond to what was coming.

It is very easy to sit and hear a good message and receive it with gladness and then when the boss comes and says, "I'm going to have to let you go" or the doctor says, "I'm afraid you have cancer" or worse yet, the phone rings and you hear that your child has been in a serious accident. These are things we all have one time or the other been through ourselves or know someone who has. Do you see where I'm going with this?

Gods word should and always be final authority in our lives! We often say that it is. We can even quote all the right scriptures but, still our lives speak very loud to the world. Where is this victory that overcomes the world, even our faith? How do we respond to trials, hardships, sickness and loss? 

    What is the first thing we do when bad news comes to our ears? I know what Jesus didn't say, You all follow Me and it will be like walking on a cloud, cool breeze blowing through your hair, no problems. NOT! He said, "When affliction, trouble, persecution COME." Oh yeah, it will come if it hasn't already in your life, the question is; how do you respond to it? Lets remember, Satan is after every WORD of God that you hear or put it this way, Satan is out to prove God does not keep His word, therefor you can't trust Him (GOD).

Enemy number one: Lack of integrity in Gods word.

Have you ever came up on a bridge and stopped right before you crossed it and thought, you know, I don't know if this bridge will hold my car. I see other cars going across it but, it might not be able to hold my car and really I don't know the people who built this bridge. Maybe they forgot to do something. Exactly, what is their background? Did they receive the proper training on how to build bridges? 

I believe this person is questioning the integrity of the bridge. Are we guilty of the very same thing when we read Gods promises? What about this WORD?

 " I will supply all your needs according to My riches in glory by Christ Jesus"

 " by His stripes you are healed"

 "cast all your cares ( all your anxieties and worries ) on Him because He loves you"

When we separate God from His word we have Religion. God swore by Himself, He is bound to His word!

Read the prayer that Paul prayed in Ephesians 1:16-23 pray this out loud in the first person then pray it for your brothers and sisters in the Lord.
